Life Saving Incident
December 28, 2020
Massachusetts
Middlesex County
Pepperell
On December 28, 2020, the Pepperell Police and Fire Departments responded to a structure fire. Officer Jared Carrubba and Officer Dan Adams were the first to arrive on scene and upon arrival witnessed flames coming from inside the home and heavy smoke. The officers were also informed that a 76-year-old woman was still trapped inside the building. Both officers made entry into the home and located the woman, who was trapped beneath debris. The two officers were able to extricate the woman from the debris and carry her outside, where she was transported by ambulance for smoke inhalation. “Officers Carrubba and Adams made entry into a burning, smoke-filled home and risked their own lives to carry one of our residents to safety,” Chief Scott said. “Their efforts were certainly heroic and life-saving”. Fire departments from Groton and Hollis, NH assisted the Pepperell Fire Department in extinguishing the two-alarm fire, the cause of which is believed to be accidental. “Once again we had a great collaborative effort by the public safety team here in Pepperell”, Chief Scott said. “These two police officers certainly played a huge role in saving a life, but it started in the dispatch center and continued with our emergency medical services.”

The history of law enforcement in the United States is a long and wonderful history of bravery. This website is dedicated to documenting the heroic deeds of law enforcement officers throughout the United States who have either given or risked their lives to save others. There are many stories of bravery and heroism for many who are considered first responders. However, it is those in law enforcement who are most likely to be the first to arrive upon a location requiring life saving acts engaging dangerous hostage takers, running into burning buildings/vehicles, providing first aid to seriously injured victims, saving near drowning victims and much more are what the women and men of law enforcement do routinely and at many times, great peril to their own safety.
It is our mission to document the history of lives saved by those dedicated women and men in law enforcement. To share with others the dramatic deeds of those individuals who are the first, first responders. It is so important for our citizens to understand that law "enforcement" is not always about enforcing the law but rather being there when our citizens need us.
It is to this end we are dedicated to promoting documentation regarding the history of law enforcement and the lives they have saved.
