Life Saving Incident
February 15, 2014
California
San Diego County
Chula Vista
On 2-15-2014 Agent Severance was dispatched to Sierra Way In Chula Vista regarding a male who was not breathing and was located in a restroom. The male was mentally disabled and a patient of a nearby facility. Agent Severance checked the male's vital signs and noticed he had a weak pulse and appeared to not be breathing. Agent Severance took quick control of the situation and instructed another person to help lay the victim on the floor. Once the male was on the floor, Agent Severance began CPR. Once she performed these compression's the male began gasping for air. The Chula Vista Fire Department arrived shortly afterward and took over life saving measures. Emergency personnel were able to get a strong pulse on the male and clear an obstruction to his airway. It was determined the male had choked on food which in turn caused him to go into cardiac arrest. The chest compression's caused the food to be pushed out of the victim's airway allowing him to breath. Without the quick thinking and measures taken by Agent Severance the male would have lost his life. The excellent work by Agent Severance saved the life of the male victim.

The history of law enforcement in the United States is a long and wonderful history of bravery. This website is dedicated to documenting the heroic deeds of law enforcement officers throughout the United States who have either given or risked their lives to save others. There are many stories of bravery and heroism for many who are considered first responders. However, it is those in law enforcement who are most likely to be the first to arrive upon a location requiring life saving acts engaging dangerous hostage takers, running into burning buildings/vehicles, providing first aid to seriously injured victims, saving near drowning victims and much more are what the women and men of law enforcement do routinely and at many times, great peril to their own safety.
It is our mission to document the history of lives saved by those dedicated women and men in law enforcement. To share with others the dramatic deeds of those individuals who are the first, first responders. It is so important for our citizens to understand that law "enforcement" is not always about enforcing the law but rather being there when our citizens need us.
It is to this end we are dedicated to promoting documentation regarding the history of law enforcement and the lives they have saved.
