Driving home from work, Officer Gascon saw dust arising from a nearby highway intersection. When he reached the intersection he came upon two severely damaged vehicles. He then stopped to help. The wreck left the driver of the first vehicle trapped inside but alert and largely unhurt. He told Gascon he had already called 911. The driver of the second vehicle was unconscious but breathing . However, witnesses said a passenger, in the second vehicle was missing. Gascon quickly canvassed the area. He couldn't find any sign of the passenger. However, he noticed water in a nearby canal was a different color in one place. He immediately went into the water and found the passenger.
The victim had head injuries and no pulse. Bystanders refused to help Gascon to get the victim out of the water. Gascon began life saving measures. After several minutes the victim's heart began beating again. Black smoke was pouring from under the hood of the first vehicle. With the passenger now breathing Gascon rushed to the first vehicle, broke the driver's side window and helped the occupant to safety. Gascon then returned to the victim from the second vehicle and continued first aid until the EMTS arrived. Gascon saved a life and was awarded the Medal of Valor.

The history of law enforcement in the United States is a long and wonderful history of bravery. This website is dedicated to documenting the heroic deeds of law enforcement officers throughout the United States who have either given or risked their lives to save others. There are many stories of bravery and heroism for many who are considered first responders. However, it is those in law enforcement who are most likely to be the first to arrive upon a location requiring life saving acts engaging dangerous hostage takers, running into burning buildings/vehicles, providing first aid to seriously injured victims, saving near drowning victims and much more are what the women and men of law enforcement do routinely and at many times, great peril to their own safety.
It is our mission to document the history of lives saved by those dedicated women and men in law enforcement. To share with others the dramatic deeds of those individuals who are the first, first responders. It is so important for our citizens to understand that law "enforcement" is not always about enforcing the law but rather being there when our citizens need us.
It is to this end we are dedicated to promoting documentation regarding the history of law enforcement and the lives they have saved.
