On 11-20-16 at around 10 PM. officers were dispatched to a call of a female pinned between two vehicles in the 1000 block of Nacion Avenue , in Chula Vista. The called was hysterical and dispatch was unable to obtain detailed information. Several officers, including Officer Curtis Chancellor and Officer Casey Rose responded to the incident. Officer Chancellor was the first to arrive on the scene and saw the female victim, later identified as Anne Krone, lying in the street after having been struck from behind by a vehicle travelling southbound on Nacion Avenue. Krone was standing at the trunk of her vehicle when she was struck and pinned between the two vehicles. A family member moved the victim's vehicle which freed the victim, and in doing so released the pressure on the victim's legs. Her legs suffered severe trauma, were partially severed, and she was losing a large amount of blood from her femoral arteries having been severed. Officer Chancellor immediately placed a tourniquet on her left leg. Officer Rose arrived and placed a tourniquet on her right leg. Officer Rose noticed the victim was still bleeding and asked for two more tourniquets from arriving fire fighters. Officer Rose applied a second tourniquet to Krone's right leg while a fire fighter applied a second tourniquet to her left leg. This staunched the flow of blood and medical personnel were able to quickly transport her to a trauma center where she was stabilized. UCSD medical surgeon Dr. Gadot credited the application of the tourniquets to saving Krone's life.
